Happy Pride!

When I started my pandemic-lockdown-era creative writing project that would become Roots in Ink I knew I wanted a queer normative world.

The characters would be dealing with an authoritarian government that monitors its citizens, rewrites history, bans magic and cultural practices, and puts limits on women’s rights. In a fictional universe where magic and unicorns exist, homophobia did not have to be an additional struggle.

I already talked at length about why I write bisexual main characters. And when I market my books, I really only focus on the primary couple.

But what about important secondary characters? Well you’re in luck because I made a handy graphic for that.

Roots in Ink

Roots in Ink is an M/F bi4bi pairing with a sapphic subplot

Emma DiMarco
Primary couple // Bisexual
Liam Doran
Primary couple // Bisexual

Regan Healy
Emma’s best friend // Pansexual, Polyamorous

Judy Boudin
Museum director // Trans woman, Lesbian

Mabel Turner
Museum volunteer // Lesbian

Hector Guzman
Museum programming director // Gay

Peyton Doolittle
Deli owner and friend // Omnisexual, Gender fluid, Polyamorous

Tommy Doran
Liam’s youngest brother // Pansexual

Bound by Ink

Bound by Ink is an F/F bi4bi (sapphic) pairing

Sara Cortese
Primary couple // Omnisexual and Polyamorous
Bethany Clement
Primary Couple // Pansexual and Polyamorous

Stephen Cortese
Sara’s nesting partner // Pansexual and Polyamorous

Piper Dawson
Sara and Bethany’s friend // Bisexual

Anna Hartley
Sara’s friend // Omnisexual

Eliza Banner
Sara’s friend // Lesbian

A note on non-monogamy

It’s safe to assume that most of these characters engage in some kind of consensual non-monogamy. Their more adventurous sexual activities aren’t pertinent to the plot, which is why they’re only implied.

A handful of characters are polyamorous and shows up on page most often in Bound by Ink. While Bound by Ink has polyam representation, I don’t market it as a polyam story because a polyamorous relationship is not at the center of the romance.
